Vaccination Requirements

 

Proof of vaccinations is required at drop-off. You may also email a photo of your dog’s vaccination records in advance.

 

If you administer vaccines yourself, please remove the stickers from the vaccine bottles and place them on a sheet of paper with the date each vaccine was given.

 

Health and safety are my #1 priority. All dogs must have current vaccinations, including:

• DHPP / DA2PP (or equivalent)

• Distemper: Within the last year

• Parvo: Within the last year

 

Rabies:

 

• Dogs under 1 year old: Within the last year

• Dogs over 1 year old: Within the last 3 years

 

Bordetella (Kennel Cough)

 

Bordetella vaccination is not required, but it is strongly recommended.

 

I’ve been caring for dogs since 2008 and have never had a case of kennel cough. However, with a constant rotation of dogs, there is always a risk of exposure.

 

Kennel cough is a common respiratory illness that can range from a mild cough to more serious respiratory complications.

 

The Bordetella vaccine helps reduce the risk of kennel cough and is especially recommended for social dogs who visit dog parks, daycare facilities, or boarding environments.

 

For the best protection, I recommend having your dog receive the nasal Bordetella vaccine at least 5 days before their stay.

 

If your dog is not vaccinated against Bordetella and contracts kennel cough, I am not responsible for the illness. All stays are at your own risk.

 

Puppies & Vaccinations If your puppy is too young to receive a rabies vaccine but is current on DHPP vaccinations, I will still accept them, provided they meet my puppy vaccination requirements below.

 

If you’ve recently adopted or purchased a puppy and don’t have proof of vaccinations, the safest approach is to consult your veterinarian about restarting the vaccination schedule. Without records, you should not assume your puppy has been vaccinated.

 

Puppies must be at least 16 weeks old OR have proof of all 3 puppy DHPP shots before staying with me.

 

I do not make exceptions to this policy.

 

Parvovirus is highly contagious and can be life-threatening, particularly for puppies who are not fully vaccinated. If your puppy does not meet my vaccination requirements, please arrange in-home care or postpone your trip until your puppy is protected.

 

 City & County Pet Licensing Requirements 

 

Unless you are just visiting or passing through Twentynine Palms, all dogs and cats must have a valid city or county license, as applicable.

 

If you have lived in your area for 30 days or more, licensing your pet is required by law. Licensing fees help support local shelters, provide care for homeless animals, and fund animal control services.

 

A current license also increases the chances of your pet being returned to you if they become lost.

I understand that some clients may disagree with this requirement, but it is the law. Even with these requirements in place, my rates remain lower than those of many other pet-sitting and boarding providers.

 

I also understand that finances can sometimes be tight, so I will allow a one-time stay without a license. This gives you time to get your pet licensed before your next booking.

 

Please take advantage of that one-time allowance and have your pet’s license completed before their next stay.
